The owner of this 2019 BMW X3 recently drove up from Chester to Extreme Audio to inquire about having a blind spot monitoring system added to her vehicle. While a member of our team demonstrated the USA Spec collision avoidance system we offer, she mentioned that she hadn’t been impressed with the performance of the Bavsound speaker upgrade she’d purchased. This comment led to discussing how an amplifier with a built-in digital signal processor could make those speakers sound amazing. She decided to go for both upgrades, so our team set to work.
BMW X3 Blind Spot Monitoring Upgrade
The first order of business was to remove the rear bumper cover to make way for the radar-based blind spot sensors included with the USA Spec BSM 200 system. These sensors create a radar field that monitors the area from roughly the B-pillars rearward for about 40 feet. If a vehicle is in an adjacent lane, the system will illuminate one of the bright LED indicators we mounted at the base of each A-pillar. The BSM 200 monitors the turn signal indicators and will produce an audible alert if the driver signals to change lanes when someone is beside the X3.
When backing up, the BSM 200 automatically switches to a cross-traffic alert mode. If a car, motorcycle, cyclist or pedestrian approaches from the sides, the system will illuminate the indicator and provide an audible warning. In this mode, the system monitors an area that extends almost 100 feet on either side of the vehicle. This safety solution is great for parking lots or when backing out of a driveway onto a street.
Match DSP Amplifier Improves Audio System Performance
Knowing that the X3 already had new speakers, we installed a Match UP 7DSP amplifier. This amp plugs directly into the BMW wiring harness to accept audio from the entertainment system and power the speakers. We used our real-time audio analyzer to configure the built-in equalizer and signal delay settings to create a very realistic listening experience. The little amp can produce up to 65 watts of power from each channel so that the system will play at impressive volume levels.
Richmond’s Mobile Enhancement Experts
With the blind spot monitoring safety system installed and the new amplifier integrated into the vehicle, we invited the owner to hop in for a demonstration. She was thrilled with how the audio system sounded and was excited to get out on the road to experience the new collision avoidance system. Can this amp work with my 19 equinox no Bose system but u guys installed 2 alpine 6×9 in the front doors and 2 6 and a half alpines in the back doors

We use the Match amplifiers with specific vehicles that they make plug and play scenarios for. We definitely have amplifiers that would match the Equinox, with and without DSP depending on the level of system your wanting. Best bet for sure would be to swing by our location to discuss. Thanks!
