It seems that no matter where we are – at home or work, on vacation, or even on a plane – we are all connected by our smartphones. The staff at Extreme Audio have been using smartphone technologies like Bluetooth, CarPlay and Android Auto since they were first launched. If you want to know how these technologies can help you stay in touch while on the road, we have all the answers to smartphone integration.
Apple CarPlay
CarPlay is a safer way to use your iPhone while you drive. It takes the most popular iPhone functions and integrates them with your vehicle entertainment system. You can make a phone call or send a text message by pressing a button and asking Siri to do what you want. You can listen to the music on your phone or find directions to your favorite restaurant quickly and easily using Apple Maps. You never have to take your eyes off the road. You can also use the CarPlay menu on the screen of your radio to make selections. The icons are nice and big, and easy to use. Apple has included CarPlay functionality on all iPhones since they launched the iPhone 5 and iOS 7.1 in 2014. Let’s take a look at this video by Honda showcasing the CarPlay platform:
Android Auto
Android Auto is a communication system that was developed by Google for Android devices running Android Version 5 (Lollipop) and later. Similar in operation to CarPlay, Android Auto gives you access to sending and receiving text messages verbally, making phone calls, and listening to music. You can use Google Play Music and third-party applications like Spotify and TuneIn Radio with Android Auto to stay entertained. Best of all, Google Maps, one of the top mobile mapping and navigation solutions available, is completely compatible with Android Auto. Ask for a destination and Google Maps will get you there quickly and efficiently. Take a minute or two to watch this video if you would like to learn more about Android Auto:
Wireless Communication
Since 2001, when the first cellphones started to include Bluetooth communication and corresponding car kits were introduced, the ability to talk “hands-free” on a cellular phone has become an integral part of how we stay in touch. The latest Bluetooth protocols offer excellent sound quality. Not all hands-free solutions are the same, though – just like the choice of amplifiers and speakers, the clarity and performance of different systems varies from model to model and brand to brand. Extreme Audio offers many different Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming solutions that can work with, or replace, your factory radio. Let us know your goal and we can help implement a solution.
Portable Music, Entry Level Smartphone Integration
Smartphone Integration can be as simple as having a way to connect your phone to your factory radio. We offer many solutions that use a simple 1/4-inch headphone jack to let you play your music through your car stereo. We would be happy to install one or two extra USB ports in your vehicle to let you keep your portable devices charged.
Extreme Service
Extreme Audio has locations in Midlothian and Mechanicsville, Virginia, to provide our customers with the best service possible. We invite you to drop by and bring along your smartphone. We can demonstrate the different communication and integration options available for your vehicle.
