If you are looking for a premium blind spot monitoring system upgrade for your vehicle, drop into Extreme Audio in Midlothian or Mechanicsville and ask us about the USA Spec BSM 200. This monitoring system works as well as, or better than many factory-installed safety systems. It lets you know when someone is beside your vehicle. Let’s look at some of the unique features of the BSM 200 and how it can help prevent accidents.
What is a Blind Spot?
If a car, truck or motorcycle is driving on either side of your vehicle and you can’t see them in your mirrors or your peripheral vision, they are in your blind spot. Thousands of near-misses and hundreds of accidents happen each year because cars or trucks change lanes into a vehicle that they didn’t see.
How the USA Spec BSM 200 Works
The BSM 200 is a blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert system that we can install in most vehicles with plastic rear bumper covers. The system uses a pair of microwave radar sensors mounted in either corner of the vehicle and alerts the driver to the presence of objects. The detection zone is 33 feet long by one standard highway lane width and extends from the B-pillar rearwards.
The BSM 200 will detect a vehicle in your blind spot that is traveling at the same speed as you. Other systems require that one vehicle is traveling faster than the other. The BSM 200 will notify you if you pass a vehicle and then it enters your blind spot – others don’t.
Cross-Traffic Alert Warnings
The second function of the USA Spec BSM 200 is alerting the driver of vehicles approaching from the sides when backing up. The system provides a zone of almost 100 feet on either side of the vehicle and activates automatically when the transmission is in reverse. If you are backing out of a parking spot in a mall parking lot, this is a great feature!

Roy White says
Can this be mounted on a 26′ RV (Winnebago Navion) with plastic rear bumper?
Mike Bartells says
Roy, We just talked on the phone. It will definitely mount behind the bumper with no issues. Once I find out about extending the cables for the RV, I’ll be back in touch. Thanks!
