A client called us recently, interested in a remote start for her 2016 Toyota Corolla. The cold mornings were definitely not something she was enjoying since being transferred to Fort Lee, and she wanted to make sure she could warm it up in the morning and in the evening after work as well.
After spending some time going over the various remote starter options and remote control options available to her, she decided to go with adding a remote start to her original factory smart key, and added DroneMobile for smartphone control. When she’s at home in the morning, the Corolla is close to her, so she can use her factory smart key to remote start it. We were able to add the remote start function to her factory key fob by pressing the lock button three times. This enables her to start it up without having to carry an additional remote control.
The only problem with adding remote start to a factory remote is that the distance you can remote start it from is limited by the remote itself. When she’s on base at Fort Lee, she’s parked a serious distance away from where she’s working. We added the smartphone control of DroneMobile to it, so she can start her vehicle from any distance and anywhere in the world that she has smartphone Internet coverage. As long as she and the car are within cellular data range, it will work!
Now she’s all set for the freezing days ahead, with a super-clean installation done by our tech at our Midlothian store.
