Historically, it’s been somewhat difficult for the team at Extreme Audio near Richmond to add a high-performance blind spot detection system to a pickup truck. Our go-to solution that works flawlessly on cars and SUVs requires that the vehicle have a plastic bumper cover. Rydeen recently came to our rescue with their new truck-specific CUB blind-spot detection solutions.
Rydeen CUB Blind Spot Detection for Trucks
In a similar fashion to the systems that come on brand-new pickup trucks, the Rydeen CUB upgrade includes a set of replacement taillight assemblies with built-in radar transceivers. The radar units are positioned perfectly in each application to provide proper coverage on the sides of the vehicle, as well as up to 75 feet behind it.
If a vehicle enters the lane adjacent to your car or truck, a small LED indicator on the dash will light up to let you know something is beside you. If you activate your turn signal to change lanes and someone is in your way, the system will produce a loud warning alert so you know not to change lanes.
CUB solutions comply with ISO 17387 Type 3 Lane Change Decision Aid Systems. The light assemblies have passed ASTM D4329 testing to ensure they won’t yellow, crack or turn chalky quickly due to prolonged UV exposure.
Rear Cross-Traffic Alert Warnings
The CUB system automatically reconfigures its radar pattern to serve as a rear cross-traffic alert system as soon as you start backing up. If someone or something approaches your vehicle from the sides, the system will provide a warning when they are within 60 feet. This is more than enough time to stop pulling out of a parking spot and prevent an accident.
