With days getting shorter, it’s time to check out the new GTR Lighting Gen 3 LEDs at Extreme Audio in Midlothian and Mechanicsville. Replacement LED headlight bulbs have come a long way in the past few years, and the new third-generation bulbs from GTR Lighting are designed to provide amazing light output and efficiency and are available in a variety of applications. Read on to learn more about Gen 3 LED bulbs from GTR Lighting.
Premium LED Elements
GTR Lighting has invested a lot of time in developing an LED replacement bulb that offers all the benefits of light-emitting diodes with the beam pattern of a conventional halogen incandescent bulb. The 12 Luxeon Z ES LED elements by Lumileds are mounted on either side of the lamp to work with both projector- and reflector-style light housings. The result is an accurate beam pattern, ensuring that your fellow drivers won’t be blinded as they approach you.
Output and Color
GTR Lighting Gen 3 LEDs are rated to produce 3700 raw lumens of light from each bulb. Don’t be confused by companies that measure the output of both bulbs. The color is specified at 6000 Kelvin for a bright white look with just a hint of blue. Thanks to LED technology, each bulb consumes 2.1 amps of current at 14 volts DC – less than half of a halogen bulb with a lot more output.
LED versus HID
Many people believe HID headlights are the ultimate aftermarket upgrade. While those high-density discharge options are amazing, like everything, they have their benefits and potential drawbacks. HID bulbs take a few seconds to reach full light output, but LED bulbs are at full output almost instantly. This makes LEDs perfect for high-beam upgrades where “flashing to pass” requires instant performance. The power supply needed to ignite the arc within an HID bulb can cause radio frequency interference if not designed perfectly. LED bulbs are driven by low voltages – making them electrically quieter and much safer. Finally, HID bulbs are very fragile. LED bulbs can take a beating. In fact, GTR Lighting is so confident in its Gen 3 LEDs that it backs them with a lifetime warranty.

I would like to purchase a set for my Honda 2006 CRV. I have to replace the Halogen low beam bulbs at least four times a year. After looking on line Honda has a big problem with low beam burning out. And no one has the answer for the problem. I want to know what type, watts and which ones would be best for my car. Also want to order a set. I would like any input on this problem and would these bulbs be the answer. I checked the voltage, wiring relays switches etc. The only Item that I think may be the problem is the bulb socket. The one that is in the crv now is a Stanley. The Parts manual calls for a (ORSRAM) The problem started back in 2014.
Waiting your reply, Thank you

Good Morning! Sorry to hear you’ve had so many bulb problems with your CRV, it sounds a bit odd to have gone through that many bulbs. It’s difficult to say why you would be going through light bulbs at such a rate, as the overall light bulb wiring is pretty basic. The GTR Lighting Gen3 LED’s have a lower power consumption than a traditional bulb, and should be more stable if you have some kind of odd power issue going on. Are you local to the Richmond area? Shoot me an email at mike@extremeaudio.org. Thanks!

Hello,
could you please answer my question in regards to my 2015 Tahoe with projector
housings if the GTR gen 3 H11 bulb will provide a relatively decent beam?
Mike Bartells says
Ralph, I’m not honestly sure. We know the beam pattern is better and brighter in projector lenses, so we always default to that. You may contact GTR lighting directly to see if perhaps they’ve done any testing?

If i have been reading correctly and understand it in the vids,gtr3 ultras are designed around the reflector type houseing mimmicing the halogen type bulb..So im not sure but dont think it would be the best choice in a projector..
Mike Bartells says
They are definitely made to mimic a halogen as closely as possible, but most projectors are designed with halogens in them as well. We tend to defer to GTR Lighting HID’s for projectors, as we know the beam pattern will be as optimal as possible, and they still offer better lighting as of now. We use the Gen 3 Ultra’s for high beams and fogs.
