Did you know that Extreme Audio in Mechanicsville and Midlothian now offers the ZZ-2 brand of add-on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces? These products work with the factory-installed infotainment screen in your dash, so the system looks as though it came with the car right from the dealer. Imagine being able to send text messages, make phone calls or change the music, podcast or audiobook using voice commands.
How Do We Add CarPlay To Your Vehicle?
We’ve partnered with manufacturers like ZZ-2 to offer vehicle-specific CarPlay and Android Auto upgrades to our clients. ZZ-2 has developed add-on computer modules that run the phone connectivity software. Vehicle-specific harnesses with factory-style electrical connectors are available for various BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Toyota, Volkswagen, Lexus, Infiniti, Honda and Jaguar vehicles. The computer module connects in-line with the feed to the display screen and the vehicle’s control buttons. You can switch between the factory-installed infotainment system and the smartphone interface quickly and easily by pressing and holding one of the steering wheel buttons or a button on the center console. Audio from the interface is available by selecting the Auxiliary input source option on the radio.
Many of the interfaces we offer include wireless connectivity, so there’s no need to plug in your phone when you get into the vehicle. The ZZ-2 module will connect wirelessly to your smartphone automatically when you start the vehicle. Additionally, some of the interfaces add the option of front and rear-view camera connectivity with dynamic parking lines that show where you are headed while you back into a parking spot.
Upgrade Your Car, Truck or SUV with CarPlay and Android Auto

I have an E60 (2009 BMW 535i), is this compatible? I really hate how dated the navigation looks also, will this change how the display looks? Your assistance on the before mentioned will be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in advance

It would work with your 2009 5 Series, are you in the local Richmond, VA area? I have the same kit in my wife’s BMW, so I could set up a time for you to take a look. If not, let me know where you are and I’ll see if I can find a dealer near you.
