One of our clients from here in Midlothian contacted Extreme Audio about adding navigation and other upgrades to his 2003 Gulf Stream Friendship 8408 motorhome. We had installed an Alpine Restyle system in the client’s GMC Sierra. We also installed a Pioneer navigation system in his Smart. He wanted to add navigation to his RV, as well as upgrading the speakers. We talked to the client about where he traveled with the motorhome and what he wanted the navigation system to provide. He added a few other items to the project as we worked on the quote. With everything approved, we scheduled an appointment to start work.
Gulf Stream Navigation Upgrade
As this is a Class A motorhome, many of the travel restrictions match those of transport trucks. The Kenwood DNX571TR system has built-in overpass height and route restriction information that helps make travel safer. We mounted the system on the left side of the dash in easy view of the driver. A SiriusXM tuner module allows him to enjoy his favorite genre of music without interruption as he drives across the country. We installed three sets of JL Audio C2600x 6-inch coaxial speakers in the roof of the motorhome to upgrade the old, worn-out speakers. We also installed a Uniden Bearcat 880 CB radio for the client.
Outside Entertainment System
Once the motorhome is parked, the client enjoys spending time outside with friends. The motorhome came with a factory-installed audio system for use outdoors. We replaced the radio in that system with a Clarion M303. The M303 offers CD and Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities. We retained the original speakers for now as they continue to work just fine.
Illuminate!
One of the reasons the client brought his motorhome to us was to add some LED lighting to the exterior of the vehicle. He had seen the work we did on a Berkshire RV on our website, and he knew right away that he wanted the same thing for his Gulf Stream. We installed 56 feet of GTR RGB LED strips along the entire length of the motorhome. We also added lighting beneath the mural on the rear of the vehicle. The GTR LED kit includes the ability to control the red, green and blue output to mix and match for almost and hue you can imagine.
The client returned to Extreme Audio to check out his Gulf Stream radio upgrade project. He loved the LED illumination and was very pleased with the improvement in sound quality…the new source unit and speakers made a big difference! The truck-based navigation was sure to make his travels not only more efficient but also safer. If you’re craving an upgrade for your vehicle, drop by Extreme Audio or contact us here.
