A client stopped by with a 2014 Ford F-150, looking to make some technology upgrades to it – something with navigation that could tie into the existing reverse camera and also maybe CarPlay. After going through the many options available, the client chose a Pioneer AVIC-7200NEX was the navigation system. The Pioneer is a feature-filled unit that gives you not only navigation, Bluetooth, backup camera input and more, but also has Apple CarPlay.
CarPlay allows you to plug in your Apple iPhone and use Apple’s selection of apps right on the radio. With a combination of Pioneer’s features and Apple’s, you’re pretty well future-proof for a good while when it comes to technology.
We added something else to the F-150 that is quite slick: the ADS Maestro interface for the radio. This very cool module connects the vehicle’s diagnostics directly to the radio, allowing you to see things like tire pressure, gauges, diagnostic info and more. Say your Check Engine light comes on. One touch of a button and the Maestro will tell you exactly what code is there and what is wrong. If you were working on the vehicle and accidentally caused your Check Engine light to pop on, you can even clear the code right out without needing a trip to the dealer.
Have a truck you love, but it’s missing a feature you wish it had? Stop by one of Extreme Audio’s Richmond-area locations. We’d be happy to go over the options that we can add to your vehicle. We’re in Mechanicsville next to Sheehy Nissan and in Midlothian next to Steel Horse Harley-Davidson.
