A new client from Colonial Heights came in recently with his 2012 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic, looking to upgrade his stereo system to something with a few more modern features.
One look at the AquaticAV AQ-MP-5UBT-H radio and he was hooked! The AquaticAV unit is the perfect receiver for the Harley rider who wants new features and an excellent power upgrade as well. It adds the functionality of Bluetooth audio for hands-free streaming of music and is completely plug-and-play for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson OEM radio-equipped motorcycles, keeping the factory handlebar controls completely intact. Check out the video below for a great demo on what the AquaticAV Harley radio has to offer.
Now that he was going to have more power behind the speakers, he decided he wanted to upgrade the front and back speakers, without breaking the bank in the process. We upgraded the front fairing speakers to a larger size (6 1/2″) PowerBass speaker and the rear tour pack speakers with 5 1/4″ PowerBass speakers. The PowerBass XL series is ideal for this type of application. These speakers don’t require a ton of power to play reasonably loud and are sealed water-tight from the front, just like the Harley OEM speakers.
The result was a nice step up to more modern features, and a good jump up in output as well. Now our client can hear things better when riding out on the highway.

Does it work with the handlebar controls?
Mike Bartells says
Definitely! Both the Aquatic AV radios and the Rockford are pre-programmed to work with the Harley handlebar controls.
Jeremy C Jasper says
Do you lose the CB/Headset capability? What about the Automatic Volume control at different speeds?
Mike Bartells says
Good Morning! Yes, any time you change the OEM radio in the Harleys you give up the CB/Headset and the speed controlled volume.
