The Hanover Fire Dept. recently picked up a new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. Since the truck was a “work truck”-style Silverado, it didn’t come factory-equipped with a backup camera collision avoidance system. The truck had the metal divider between the front and back seats, so seeing out of the back while reversing was simply not safe. Extreme Audio to the rescue (instead of vice versa)!
One of the benefits of the work style is that such a truck comes stripped of many of the Chevrolet “add-ons,” like OnStar. Not having OnStar in the mirror made it a natural choice to swap out the mirror for a new backup camera mirror with a 4.3″ screen. No extra monitors hanging off the dash!
We partnered that mirror replacement with an Echomaster replacement tailgate handle that has the camera built right in. It gives you a perfectly centered view of the hitch when hooking up for towing, and still gives you a great view of everything behind you. You don’t even notice the camera there unless you’re looking for it.
Have a truck with limited visibility when you’re backing up? Stop by one of Extreme Audio’s Richmond-area locations. We’d be happy to go over what backup camera options would work for your vehicle.
We’re in Mechanicsville next to Sheehy Nissan and in Midlothian next to Steel Horse Harley-Davidson. Feel free to e-mail us here.
