A client from Chesterfield contacted Extreme Audio for some assistance in upgrading the audio system on his 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. The client already had a list of products he wanted to use on the bike and was interested in our expertise in ensuring the choices were appropriate. After talking about how he listens to his music and reviewing the product list, we made some changes so that the upgrade project would look and sound the way he wanted.
Harley-Davidson Front and Rear Speaker Upgrade
We started by removing the speaker pods from inside the front fairing to install a set of ARC Audio Moto 602 6.5-inch coaxial speakers. The Moto 602 drivers are designed specifically for Harleys and bolt in place without any modifications. For the rear of the bike, we used one of the Rockford Fosgate TMS69BL14 bag lid speaker kits with a second set of TMS69 element-ready coaxials mounted on the inside of the bags. The Rockford kit includes a set of cutting templates that makes it easy to modify the existing lid covers to hold the 6×9-inch speakers, mounting plates and custom grilles. We drilled holes in the side of the bag to let the sound from the second set of TMS69 6 by 9-inch speakers out.
ARC Audio Harley-Davidson Audio System Amplifier
The system is powered by a single ARC Audio Moto 600.4 amplifier that fits nicely under the fairing of the bike. The amp is rated to produce 150 watts of power from each of its four channels, and unlike most competing products, the Moto 600.4 offers an efficiency specification that exceeds 91%. This is the perfect amplifier solution for instances where battery power is limited. The ARC amp is connected to the output of a Sony XAV-AX100 multimedia receiver that had already been installed on the bike.
LED Motorcycle Lighting
With the audio system installed and configured, we turned to the installation of an XK Glow Pro motorcycle LED lighting kit. The lighting kit includes LED strips that are mounted under the front fairing, the engine, the saddlebags, the rear fender and a second zone under the fuel tank. The included smartphone app provides a variety of options to have the lighting color change with the beat of the music. A unique feature on this lighting kit is an option that turns all the lighting red when the brakes are applied for added visibility.

With the upgrades complete, the client returned to Extreme Audio in Midlothian to pick up his Street Glide and hear the audio system upgrade for the first time. He was thrilled with the sound and loved the look of the LED lighting kit.
