A client from Chesterfield recently stopped in, looking to do some upgrades to his 2005 Supra boat audio system. The tower speakers that were originally installed on the boat were in rough shape, and with everyone in the family at 6 ft+, they were tired of ducking to keep from hitting their heads.
We removed the old bar with 4 Kicker 6 1⁄2” cans and upgraded them to two Wet Sounds REV10s. The Wet Sounds REV10s are high-output wakeboarding tower speakers. They are designed specifically to project from the tower to behind the boat and play loudly enough for anyone who is wakeboarding, skiing or tubing to hear. Since each enclosure mounts individually, we were able to locate them on the outer edges of the tower and leave a clear area in the middle so even tall people can through without knocking their heads. An ARC Audio XDi-450.4 powers them at 250 watts RMS per speaker, so they can play loud and clean.
The stereo in the boat was an outdated Clarion model, so it was time for an upgrade there as well. We stepped it up to a new Clarion M505 marine radio. This radio adds Bluetooth capability for easier connection to his phone. We added a new Clarion MW-1 wired remote to the back of the boat and an MF-1 RF Remote as well. We mounted the Clarion MF-1 next to the driver for easy use, but it is capable of controlling the Clarion radio from up to 100 ft away – and it floats!
