A regular client recently stopped by our Midlothian location. We’d previously done an audio upgrade to his Harley-Davidson, and now he was interested in adding video to his 2017 Mercedes Maybach S550.
The new Mercedes models include active headrest restraints, which means the headrests are actually part of the safety system when there’s a rear impact. Due to that, replacing the headrests with new models that include video, like we normally would, is not possible. For situations just like this, though, Audiovox has released a new category of “seat back” video monitors: the AVX-SB10UHD, a set of monitors made to attach to the headrest brackets, without impeding the effectiveness of the factory safety system.
The AVX-SB10UHD monitors are equipped with DVD, WiFi and an Android operating system, so our client’s kids are now able to stream video like Netflix, play video games and more. Unlike universal kits that just strap around the headrests with wires going everywhere, these are custom- installed with everything hidden and neat.
Looking to add video to your Mercedes or other luxury vehicle without needlessly modifying the interior? Stop by one of our Richmond, VA-area locations in Mechanicsville or Midlothian to see what custom options we have for you. You also can contact us here.
