A client from Midlothian recently visited Extreme Audio to ask about options to upgrade their 2013 Mercedes-Benz C350 coupe with Apple CarPlay. After inspecting the vehicle and doing some research, we proposed that one of the ZZ2 DIZZPLAY replacement screens would provide the functionality they wanted.
The C350 comes with a small screen that’s about four inches across. This works with the factory radio, but isn’t touch-sensitive and would make for a mediocre CarPlay interface. The ZZ2 DZZ-NTG45-C-W204-10-LHD interface features a large 10.25-inch widescreen high-resolution display that is fully touch-sensitive. The screen is designed specifically for 2012 through 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars with the NTG45 infotainment system.
The DIZZPLAY unit features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so it is ready if the client switches smartphone platforms. Wireless connectivity is available for both systems, so their phones will connect automatically without a USB cable. The system includes Bluetooth and retains the functionality of the factory entertainment system. We upgraded the DIZZPLAY system with a rear parking camera to make maneuvering safer and more convenient. The camera displays automatically when the vehicle is in reverse. We can add a forward-facing camera in the future if the client wishes.
