A repeat client from Ashland, Virginia, came to Extreme Audio wanting to upgrade the audio system on his 2013 Harley Street Glide. We had done a previous upgrade on the audio system, and he came to us for two reasons: He was having issues with the stock Harley radio, and he wanted it to play much louder. We spent some time with the client, going over goals for this upgrade, and worked up what we felt would be the best solution for him. He liked our idea and made an installation appointment.
Bluetooth, iPod, And SiriusXM Sources Added With Alpine Radio
Since the Harley radio was going bad, we opted to replace it with an Alpine CDE-HD149BT. The customer gained Bluetooth for music streaming, and we ran a USB cable to his saddlebag to give him iPod control as well. We also integrated a satellite radio tuner into the Alpine unit.
Upgraded Arc Audio Speakers Keep The Tunes Jamming On The Open Road
The customer’s Harley was set up to hold two pairs of speakers – one set in the fairing, and one set by the crash bars. We replaced the previous speakers with two pairs of Arc Audio Moto602’s, which are 6.5” coaxial units. What makes the Arc speakers great is that they are specifically designed for the motorcycle market – to be a little brighter and more aggressive-sounding, where the wind noise takes a normal speaker and makes it sound a little dull. They are also designed to play loud – real loud! Every part of this speaker is designed to handle the severe abuse given to it by a motorcycle rider.
Plenty Of Clean Power From Arc Audio Amplifier
When it came to choosing an amplifier, we went with an Arc Audio product again, the Moto600.4. Just like the Arc speakers, this amplifier is designed specifically for a motorcycle. It delivers more than 600 watts of clean power to the four speakers, yet can work just fine with the limited charging system of a bike. Even the size of this amplifier is incredible: It fits perfectly on top of the radio and does not touch the fairing.
Motorcycle Audio Upgrade A Success And The Client Was Thrilled!
When the customer came to pick up his Harley, he was thrilled at the new upgrades. Now he can listen to all of his different musical sources, and running out of volume is a thing of the past. When we say this bike cranked, we mean it cranked. The sound was crystal-clear with no hint of strain at any volume.

Q says
Will the ARC 600.4 and 602 speakers fit under the fairing of a 2006 Street Glide?
Mike Bartells says
Definitely! You would need the Arc Audio speaker adapters for the 6 1/2″.
