A client from Chesterfield with a 1932 Ford Pickup needed a new radio, but wanted to avoid modifying the truck to accommodate it. He wanted to keep the factory dash intact, and not cause any damage that might decrease the value of this beautiful ride. We got right to work with a plan.
After going through some features and looking at the vehicle to understand what we had to work with, we recommended a Sony MEX-N5300BT Bluetooth radio receiver with CD player. We crafted a custom enclosure that sits behind the seats and houses the radio and the Alpine Type-R 6.5″ component speakers. This keeps the equipment out of sight, but provides plenty of sound for an enjoyable cruise.
The Sony | Music Center app gives him full control of the radio via his phone, including audio source selection, volume and track changes. We added satellite radio, and the owner later made a custom bracket for the satellite antenna. The client enjoyed the system so much, he came back a week later to add another set of coaxial speakers to provide even more sound.
