Remote Starters: For Comfort, Safety And Convenience

remote car starterFor people who live north of freezing several months a year, getting into a cold car is like stepping into a walk-in freezer and pulling up a chair. It’s cold, the kids are freezing, the steering wheel is like ice in your hands and you know you’ll have to wait at least a few minutes before you can start driving as the engine warms and windows defrost — just as you know that it will take a few minutes more before the interior temperature of your vehicle is bearable.

A remote starter will put an end to those cold mornings, warming up your engine and vehicle before you get in.

If you live in a hot climate, you’ve probably also discovered by now that it can get hot enough inside a parked car to melt plastic. With a remote starter you can leave the air conditioner on when you park and spare yourself an uncomfortable, sweaty, sticking-to-your-seat kind of summer roasting when you return to your vehicle.

Remote starters are also good for safety, ensuring you and your loved ones have a running car to jump into, and a panic alarm in your pocket you can activate at any time for assistance.

If you’re in a hurry or have the kind of job where you need to hop in and out of your vehicle and you’d rather not idle away your fuel, they can also be a real time saver.

A growing number of remote starters also have built-in wireless and GPS capability, letting you track your vehicle or vehicles, set curfews, set geofences that trigger alarms, set speed limits and more. You can also find out what state your car is in at any given time.

Theft of running cars is not an issue. Remote start systems come with a bypass module to enable the vehicle to start without deactivating its alarm system or opening the locks.

The good news is that complete packages with installation can run as little as a few hundred dollars.

  • 1-way remote starters let you unlock and start your car using a keychain attachment, and are usually the simplest, most inexpensive solution.
  • 2-way remote starters let your car communicate back to you, telling you if your doors are locked, if the alarm has been triggered or the engine is running. Some 2-way systems will also help you find your car in a crowded parking lot, or have “tilt” sensors that let you know if someone has backed into your vehicle … or if you’re being towed.
  • The latest system can also be controlled remotely using your smartphone, which gives you all the features of a high-end 2-way system, plus a few benefits like added range, GPS capability, push notifications of alarm events, the ability to remote start multiple cars using a single device, password protection and a lot more.

To find out how installing a remote starter can increase your comfort and safety, drop by our store to learn more. Feel free to contact us today! You really won’t know how you’ve lived without it!
