Blind spot detection systems are among the most popular new technologies in cars these days. A client from Midlothian came to us back in June, looking to add blind spot detection to his 2002 Lexus ES300. The problem was that we just hadn’t seen good results from any of the blind spot detection systems available at the time. They were using inferior sensors that were not consistent enough to depend on as a safety device.
We talked to the client about a new system that we’d heard was hitting the market in a few months, and he agreed to wait for something reliable. Well, it finally came in, and we’re happy to say it works much better than previous versions from other companies!
Blind spot warning systems put a sensor behind the rear bumper on each side of the car. If someone drives into your blind spot, an LED will light up on that side to let you know someone is there. If you put your turn signal on and someone is in that spot, it will also start beeping at you to make sure you know about the danger. This helps a great deal with people who have a hard time twisting their neck around to see if someone is there.
