Camera systems have sure changed over the years as technology has advanced. Extreme Audio in Richmond was installing backup camera systems way back in the early 2000s. Then came front cameras, night vision cameras, multi-angle cameras, and now we have blind spot and 360-degree camera systems. These represent a new era in safety technology for your vehicle.
Blind Spot Cameras
Blind spot cameras are typically mounted underneath your side view mirrors and display the blind spot directly to the left of the right side of your vehicle on a centrally located screen. Here is the premise behind these cameras, as well as how they work. When you are driving along the road, it is easy to see vehicles in front of you and ones a good distance behind you. The problem lies when a vehicle drives into your left or right blind spot. This is the area that doesn’t show up when you look in your side view mirrors or from a quick glance over your shoulder. Our blind spot cameras are designed to activate when you turn on your blinkers. If you trigger your left blinker, the left camera turns on and shows the image in your left-hand blind spot on the screen. When you trigger your right blinker, the right camera turns on and shows the image in your blind spot on the right.
Viewing Options
If your vehicle has a color screen in the dash, we can often integrate the image to display right there for you. If that isn’t an option for you, we can add a screen in a convenient location or possibly replace your existing stereo system in the dash with a new color touchscreen unit that can display the image.
An additional upgrade would be a rearview camera if your vehicle did not come equipped with that option. You would now have cameras that can see three different sides of your vehicle.
360-Degree Camera Systems
We consider 360-degree camera systems as the ultimate in driving safety for any vehicle on the road. Imagine driving your vehicle, turning on your blinkers and having a blind spot camera just as we’ve described. You will also have a backup camera that engages when you put the vehicle in reverse, as well as a front camera, which is great for face-in parking. Now, imagine that there was a way to “stitch” all of these camera images together and allow you to see 360 degrees all around your vehicle. Now there is, if you come to Extreme Audio.

You have the same options for displaying the image as you do in the blind spot systems described above.
