A client from Midlothian dropped in at Extreme Audio in search of a backup camera solution for his 2011 Jaguar XK. He had been researching camera solutions and found us online. After talking with the client and looking over his vehicle, we started our research.
A company called Nav-TV offers a camera interface that is compatible with this Jag. The system has provisions for front and rear cameras – something that interested the client a great deal. We ordered the interface and scheduled an appointment to install the system.
We mounted a pair of compact Audiovox cameras on the Jag. The rear camera is integrated into the trunk lip above the license plate. The front camera is mounted just above the front grille.
The Nav-TV GVIF-JAG interface displays the camera image on the screen of the factory entertainment system. The rear camera image appears as soon as the transmission is in reverse. We added a small button to one of the control panels in the dash to activate the front camera.
If you are looking for a safety system for your vehicle and are in the Richmond area, drop by Exteme Audio in Mechanicsville or Midlothian or you can contact us using our online contact form.
Would you be able to supply for fitting on a Jag XKR 2011 in Houston, Tx? Interested in back up camera only.
What is the interface? Is it hardware or software?
Thanks
Breff
I would suggest contacting NavTV to see if they have a dealer in your area. http://www.navtv.com
Looks great! How much would a repeat of this rig cost? Would also be for a 2011 Jag XKR (175 model if that makes any difference). Thanks! Paul
Good Morning! Doing the same system w/ front and rear cameras would run right at $2k installed. There are some subtle details as to the operation of the system that you’d want to discuss with us prior though. If interested, give Mike a call at 804-302-4488 Thanks!
Thanks! I’m not sure I’d need a front camera….visibility seems pretty good. That said, I suspect the cost doesn’t go down much were I to delete the front camera? Don’t have the car yet – still negotiating, but given a need to park in tight garages I really think a camera makes sense…
The front camera portion would be roughly $400 of the overall cost.
Thanks Mike!!! I’ll definitely be in touch if I’m able to secure the car…
