Chrysler 300 Blind Spot Warning System for Midlothian Client

Chrysler Blind SpotA client from Midlothian recently visited Extreme Audio to inquire about adding a blind spot monitoring system to his Chrysler 300 sedan. The big Chrysler sedan has a very low seating position relative to the door sill. While this gives the car an aggressive look, it can make seeing vehicles in an adjacent lane tricky. We showed the client how our radar-based USA SPEC BSM 200 system works. This system was exactly what he wanted, so we scheduled an appointment to begin the installation.

The bumper cover was removed to give us access to the bumper frame.

The installation began with the removal of the plastic cover over the rear bumper. We need access to the aluminum rear bumper reinforcement bar in order to mount the sensors properly. As you can see, each sensor includes a set of brackets that allows us to align them at the perfect angle to provide coverage from the B pillar rearwards. The total coverage area is 33 feet long and one lane wide.

With the sensors installed, we ran the wiring through the factory harness grommet and through the vehicle to the control module we installed in the dash. The system integrates with the turn signals in the car to provide not only a visible warning that someone or something is adjacent to the vehicle, but also adds a loud beeping sound.

LED Blind Spot Warning Indicators

Our technicians chose the black covers for the pillar indicators.

The BSM 200 comes with LED warning indicators with black, silver and gold covers that we can choose from to best match the interior of your vehicle. We mounted the indicators at the base of the A pillar trim panels. The indicators illuminate anytime the vehicle is traveling at more than 18.5 mph.

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert System

When the vehicle is backing up, the blind spot monitoring system automatically switches detection patterns to monitor an area that extends almost 100 feet on either side of the vehicle. If an object enters this area – imagine a car or pedestrian approaching as you’re backing out of a parking spot – the system will provide an audible and visual alert.

Richmond’s Vehicle Safety Experts

After most of a day’s work, we had the blind spot monitoring system installed in the client’s Chrysler 300 and had completed our testing procedure. When the owner returned, we gave him a demonstration of how the system works. He was thrilled with the results and liked the location and intensity of the LED warning indicators. If you are interested in adding a cross-traffic alert or blind spot monitoring system to your car or SUV, drop by Extreme Audio in Midlothian or Mechanicsville and speak with a member of our team.
