A client from Chesterfield dropped by Extreme Audio to talk about a 2011 Jaguar XK backup camera upgrade. He’d been referred by a friend at a dealership, and while looking on our website, he noticed we’d worked on an identical 2011 Jaguar XK for front and rear cameras before. After we went over the specifics of how a camera integration for his XK Jaguar would operate, he decided he would like to have the exact same upgrades done to his.
Integrating cameras into the OEM Jaguar screen first starts with an adapter made by Nav-TV, the GVIF-JAG. The interface uses the navigation input on the OEM screen to display multiple camera systems. The rear camera is automatically activated when the vehicle is put into reverse. The front camera can be activated on demand by pressing a small button we integrated into the dash.
The cameras we used are extremely low-profile models offered by Audiovox, so they’d be as unnoticeable as possible. The wide-angle camera offers a great view behind the Jaguar, helping eliminate its blind spots while backing up. Since the Jaguar sits low to the ground, the front camera helps you judge the distance to curbs and walls when parking, making sure you don’t inadvertently damage the front end. They also offer optional parking lines for those who prefer something to use as a reference.
Interested in adding front or rear cameras to your vehicle? Swing by one of our Richmond, VA, area locations – in Midlothian or Mechanicsville. You can also contact us here.
Can I order the parts to install a back up camera to my 2011 jaguar xkr?
If you’re looking to purchase and do the installation yourself, I would consult directly with NavTV at http://www.navtv.com
I have a 2011 Jaguar XK coupe without backup camera. Do you have an estimate of the cost to install the above discussed system?
PS:I lived in Chesterfield for over 40 years before moving to Florida.
Prices would vary by region due to differing labor rates, if you did front and rear, etc.
I would contact either SoundWaves of Tampa, Or MCOR Automotive in the Tampa area. They are both very qualified shops for doing such things.
Hope this helps
