A client from here in Midlothian recently contacted our team at Extreme Audio to inquire about adding a blind-spot monitoring system to his 2014 Chevy Silverado. It’s not easy to add this sort of safety system to a pickup truck since they typically have metal bumpers. Fortunately, one of our trusted suppliers recently introduced a vehicle-specific solution that we knew would be a perfect fit.
Radar Blind Spot Detection for Chevy Silverado
Rydeen, one of the top safety solution providers in the mobile enhancement industry, offers a replacement taillight kit that includes radar-based blind spot detectors. Known as the CUB ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), the sensors in the lights not only provide up to 75 feet of coverage range in each adjacent lane, it switches to a rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) mode automatically when the vehicle is backing up. Should a person or vehicle approach the Silverado within a distance of 60 feet, the system will illuminate the warning indicators we mounted at the base of the A-pillars and produce a loud beep.
Quality Safety System Installation Ensures Reliability
While it was easy to mount the new DOT-approved taillight assemblies, it still takes some time to run the wiring from the radar sensors through the chassis and to the control box in the dash. We confirmed that the A-pillar mounting location for the warning indicators was acceptable with the owner before we mounted them. The last step was to mount the system control button at the bottom of the dash near the hood release lever.
