Remote starters are a specialty here at Extreme Audio in Richmond, Virginia. Since our humble beginnings in 1999, we have been focusing on the aftermarket remote starter category. If you have ever gone out to a warm vehicle and enjoyed not scraping ice off your windows, you will never want to live without one. Vehicle manufacturers have noticed the increased popularity in remote starters, and many of them have thrown their hat into the ring. That is good for consumers from the perspective that it brings attention to the category – the more people who know about it, the more it breeds innovation.
For many years, if people wanted remote starters, they came to a specialty store like ours. Now, car dealers are promoting their units to you when you are purchasing a vehicle. As you can imagine, we get many people asking whether our systems are as good as the factory systems. The reality is that our systems are far more advanced that the factory systems, and offer you many features not available in factory systems. Here are some of the most popular differences.
Aftermarket Remote Starter Range
Our systems have significantly longer range – up to 30 times better range, to be precise. Now, you may be asking yourself, “Why is range important? I am only going to start my vehicle from home.” Here is what our experience tells us: Once you go out to a warm vehicle one time, you will be hooked. Once you experience not scraping your windows of ice, you will never want to do it again. We suggest considering all the places your vehicle sits over the course of an average week and buying enough range to start it from those places.
Run Time
Most factory systems run for 10 minutes. When it gets cold outside, that is not long enough. Our systems are customizable in their run times, with a popular setting being 25 minutes. When it is really cold outside, our systems give you the option of warming the vehicle up for a longer period so the windshield can be defrosted, and the interior can be warm and cozy.
Two-way Control
One of our most popular features is the two-way remote control. With one of these, when you ask your vehicle to start, it will confirm back to the remote control once it is running. That way, you know for sure the vehicle is warming up for you. Some of our systems even come with a sensor allowing you to know the temperature inside your vehicle. That makes for an easy way to determine how long you should remote start it.
Diesel Engines
Our systems will work on diesel engines. If you own a diesel-powered vehicle, you know it takes longer to warm up than a gas model. Extreme Audio has systems specifically designed to safely start your diesel engine.
Customization
Factory systems are “what you see is what you get.” Our systems are completely customizable for your specific needs. Would you like the heated seats to activate? How about the rear window defroster? Maybe you would like a heated windshield-washer fluid system to quickly remove ice and snow? Our team can design a system built around your unique needs.
Manual Transmission
Yes, we can safely start a manual transmission. Our systems require a simple but important procedure be used when parking your vehicle. If you use that sequence, our systems will start your vehicle safely. We even go so far as to install a digital motion sensor that can detect the vehicle moving as little as 3 inches! We do this so you can completely trust the safety of starting your manual transmission vehicle.
When you add it up, it becomes easy to see that our systems are superior to factory-installed remote starters. We invite you to stop by Extreme Audio with your vehicle and get to know us. One of our team members will work with you to design the perfect solution for your needs.
