Installing a remote starter in a Jetta of this generation is a little different from most of the jobs we do. This system requires that a spare key be installed permanently in the vehicle. The client was aware of this and had already purchased a new key.
Another difference is that this Jetta has a manual transmission. To start the car, the client has to park the vehicle, set the parking brake, activate the starter sequence, then leave the vehicle. Once the last door is closed, the starter shuts down the engine. This ensures the vehicle is not in gear and is safe to start.
