Stereo Upgrade for Can-Am Ryker Three-Wheeler

A client from North Chesterfield recently visited Extreme Audio in Midlothian in search of a way to add a stereo to his 2020 Can-Am Ryker three-wheel motorcycle. We’ve installed audio systems on Can-Am Spyders several times, but the Ryker is an altogether unique project because it is smaller and has no factory audio provisions. 

After a quick inspection, we came up with a solution that would work with the available space and sound amazing.

Three-Wheel Can-Am Motorcycle Stereo System

The two JL Audio speakers were mounted in speaker pods, fastened to the vehicle and aimed at the driver.

Our technicians securely mounted the amplifier in the front storage compartment.

Our team made sure all connections were secure and all wiring was neatly routed.

The speaker pods blend in nicely with the color scheme of the three-wheeler.

The client has a friend with the same bike that has been upgraded with an audio system, so our client had a good idea of where he wanted the speaker pods to go. We installed a set of JL Audio M6-650vex-Mb-s-GmTi VeX-Series marine speaker pods on the body just below the handlebars. The speakers are aimed directly at the driver’s head when sitting on the Ryker, so there will be plenty of output while riding. The small profile of the VeX pods and their 6 1⁄2-inch marine-grade speakers made them a perfect solution for this application.

We installed a JL Audio MBT-RX Bluetooth receiver in the front fairing to take audio signals from the client’s phone and feed them to a JL Audio MX500/4 Powersports Amplifier. The volume control on the phone serves as the master volume for the system. The MX500/4 is wired in a bridged configuration and can deliver up to 250 watts RMS to each speaker. This amplifier should deliver more than enough power to ensure the system is clear, even at highway speeds. 

We mounted the amp in the front storage compartment. Although it is water-resistant, it sure can’t hurt to keep it dry and clean.
