This cool 2020 Jeep Gladiator is owned by the brother of one of our longtime clients. As with most Jeep owners, the client wanted the stereo system to sound better, so he dropped by Extreme Audio to see what we had to offer. After listening to his list of requests, we put together an upgrade package that would not only deliver more features and better sound but would add functionality to the exterior of this four-door off-roading pickup.
Jeep Gladiator Stereo Upgrade
The first order of business was to replace the speakers in the Gladiator. We took the dash apart to mount the woofers from a set of Alpine R-S65C.2 6.5-inch component speakers in the front portion of the dash. The tweeters from the set are mounted in the stock locations on top of the dash.
The client chose a matching Alpine SPV-65-JLT soundbar upgrade set for rear speakers. These weather-resistant speakers include a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter in an assembly that bolts directly to the pods on the roof of the Jeep. The factory-installed Alpine amplifier powers the front and rear speakers.
The icing on the cake for the audio system upgrade was a weather-resistant Alpine X409-WRA-JL navigation receiver. This radio features a 9-inch capacitive-touch display and includes a new trim panel with oversized, easy-to-use buttons. In addition, the radio includes a new trim ring with integrated air vents for a clean and tidy look. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration allow the owner to make phone calls, dictate text messages and choose entertainment options using voice commands. He can also get detailed turn-by-turn navigation instructions to almost any destination in North America using Waze or Google Maps. The radio also integrates with the steering wheel audio controls, gauge information display and access to the rearview camera, thanks to the included iDatalink Maestro module.
Jeep Accessories Add Functionality

The client had already upgraded his Gladiator with new bumpers and fenders, along with larger wheels and tires. We installed a set of motorized Amp Research Powerstep XL steps to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier. The steps extend downward as a door opens, then retract a second after the last door closes to maintain ground clearance and a clean look.
We finished the project with an Undercover Flex folding bed cover for the back of the vehicle. This locking cover allows the client to safely store personal belongings there, dramatically increasing cargo-carrying capacity.
Richmond’s Jeep Upgrade Experts
The client returned to Extreme Audio to check out the upgrades we’d made to his Jeep Gladiator. He loved the clean look of the steps and bed cover and was thrilled with how the new radio integrated with the interior. We helped him connect his phone to the new radio and showed him how to use the hands-free features. If you’re interested in upgrading your Jeep, drop by our location in Mechanicsville or Midlothian.
