Sound Deadening Upgrade for Midlothian Chevy Suburban SUV

A client from Midlothian contacted our team here at Extreme Audio to ask about adding some sound deadening to his 2011 Chevrolet Suburban SUV. The client had been shopping for a replacement vehicle, but after seeing the prices of equivalent models, decided he’d invest in what he had. The Suburban came with a lower-level trim package, so finding a way to make it quieter was at the top of his list.

Suburban Road Noise Reduction

We started by going for a drive with the owner to find out where noise was coming into the cabin. Once we’d had a good listen, we came up with a plan to treat the doors and floor panels with a combination of SoundShield and Roadkill damping material.

Our team started by pulling back the carpet in the front floor and firewall area so they could install a layer of SoundShield damping material. We cleaned all the surfaces to ensure 100% adhesion. Next, we turned to the front doors. Our team removed the inner trim panels so we could add deadening to the inner and outer door skins.

The rear of the vehicle turned out to be noisier than we would have predicted. We pulled out the carpet and removed the side trim panels between the C and D pillars before covering everything with more SoundShield three-layer damping material. 

Once everything was in place, we reassembled the vehicle, making sure we put back all the fasteners and clips securely so that nothing would rattle or buzz. In total, we added 66 square feet of SoundShield deadening and 16 square feet of Stinger Roadkill.

The client was amazed and thrilled with how much quieter the interior of his Chevy Suburban was after we finished the project.
