A new customer came to Extreme Audio from Richmond, Virginia, asking for a 2006 Jeep Wrangler multimedia system. The vehicle owner runs a networking company and will be using it for marketing purposes at her networking events. After spending time getting to know her, we suggested a new radio, speakers, subwoofer, and some LED lighting upgrades. She liked our ideas, so an installation appointment was set.
Front and Center
We started by modifying the center dash panel to serve as a home for a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX multimedia receiver. The rear video output from the deck feeds a pair of 5.8-inch Accele monitors for the rear seat passengers. A set of wireless headphones provides audio for the rear screens. We also created a custom switch panel and USB connection point in the bottom-right corner of the console. This allows the owner to access the Android Auto interface on the radio. We mounted Rydeen MINy camera on the rear of the vehicle to make backing up safer.
Sounds Great
We added two pairs of Arc Audio ARC502 coaxial speakers to the Jeep – one in the dash on a set of custom adapter plates and the other in the rear overhead pods. We used an Arc Audio XDi 850.5 5-channel amplifier to power the system. To dramatically improve the bass response of the system, we installed an Arc Audio ARC 8D4 subwoofer in the factory enclosure that resides in the center console. We reworked and enlarged the mounting face of the console to fit the larger sub.
Looks Great
We installed GTR Lighting blue LED strips in the foot wells and connected them so they turn on when the doors are open. Then we installed a set of three-color LED strips under the Jeep. A wireless remote control module makes it easy to pick a color or enable the color-scan function. The lighting can be turned on or off by one of the switches in the switch panel or via the Aux 1 channel of a Compustar remote starter and security system that we also installed. A pair of RF-2WG9-SP remotes lets the owner lock or unlock the vehicle, start it, and control the lights. A radar sensor protects the vehicle soft-top and can be turned off when not needed. We also installed a Compustar DroneMobile cellular communication system, so all the same functionality is available via a smartphone app. Very shortly, we will be adding four LED logo projectors underneath the vehicle. These will project the client’s logo on the ground beneath the truck – great for parking-lot marketing events!
Another Happy Client From Richmond
When the owner came back to Extreme Audio, we reviewed the functionality of the source unit and rear zone operation. We explained how the lighting control worked and demonstrated the Compustar systems. We even helped install and configure the Drone App so it would be ready to go. She was delighted with it all.
