The Henrico-based owner of this 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S recently contacted Extreme Audio to inquire about upgrading the radio in his vehicle. We had previously re-tinted the rear window of the Carrera, and he was impressed with our service. His visit to our shop got him thinking about upgrading the factory radio with a solution that would include Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. After showing the client a few options on our showroom display, he chose a Sony radio for the vehicle, and we scheduled an installation appointment to complete the work.
Porsche 911 Carrera Radio Upgrade
After removing the stock radio from the dash of the Porsche, our team unpacked the Sony XAV-AX5000 radio the client chose and began preparing the NAV-TV HUR radio replacement module. The factory-installed radio in this vehicle communicates with the amplifier using a Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) fiber optic cable. The NAV-TV HUR interface works with the preamp output of the new radio and feeds audio into the factory amp for entirely seamless integration.
The finish on the NAV-TV dash kit matches the paint on the climate control panel perfectly. The clean design of the radio looks as though it belongs in the vehicle, as opposed to seeming like something designed to fit into a futuristic video game.
Backup Camera Adds Safety
The client wanted a backup camera to make parking and maneuvering the vehicle easier and safer. Our installation technician mounted a Rydeen CM-DUO camera on the rear bumper just above the license plate. The wiring for the camera runs through the vehicle and interfaces with the radio to display the image automatically when the vehicle is in reverse. The angled housing and wide-angle lens ensure excellent visibility in the camera image.
