Product Spotlight: Compustar 900R Four-Button Remotes

Compustar 900RIf you’re looking for easy-to-use remote controls for your car starter, drop by Extreme Audio in Midlothian or Mechanicsville and ask about the Compustar 900R remotes. Featuring new ‘edgy’ styling, these one-way, four-button remotes provide up to 1500 feet of range so you can start your car from inside your home, a small store or a restaurant. Giving your car or truck four or five minutes to warm up in the winter or cool off in the summer makes your driving experience much more enjoyable.

Four-Button Remotes Offer Easy Control

Compustar CS925-SThe four-button design of the 900R remotes provides direct and intuitive access to lock, unlock, remote start and trunk release thanks to dedicated buttons for each function. Additional features like auxiliary outputs, Valet mode and silent-mode activation can be accessed by combining multiple button-presses or by holding a button for a few seconds. We include a complete user-guide with each remote start system we install. Of course, a member of our team will review the key features of the system when you pick up your vehicle.

The remotes are powered by a coin-cell battery. An LED at the top of the remote flashes when you press a button to let you know when things are good, or when the battery needs to be replaced. We keep replacement batteries in stock at both of our Richmond area locations, so feel free to drop by when it’s time for a new one.

Compustar Reliability Ensures Confidence

We’ve been selling Compustar remote start systems for years because they have proven to be the most reliable in the industry. Each four-button 900R remote is designed with a durable plastic case that can withstand day-to-day use and the occasional drop. The buttons are integrated into a single-piece synthetic-rubber molding that helps to keep dust and debris away from the electronics to prolong the life of each unit. Compustar backs the 900R remotes with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Richmond’s Remote Car Starter Experts

If you dread getting into a cold vehicle this winter, drop by Extreme Audio on Hull Street in Midlothian beside Steel Horse Harley-Davidson or our Mechanicsville location on Sujen Court just off of the Mechanicsville Turnpike and ask about a remote starter solution that features the cool new 900R remotes. You can also reach us by e-mail or phone using our contact page.

There is a small slot near the base of the remote that you simply put a flat head screwdriver in and twist. The batteries should be available just about anywhere, drug stores, batteries plus, walmart, etc.

Thank you very much. Is there a manual with that car starter?

Oddly I can’t find the manual on Compustar’s website. If you go to this page it should be the same as the older model 600r they have listed. A lot of the features will be dependent on who did the installation and what features they wired it up to have. Hope this helps. https://www.compustar.com/user-manuals/discontinued/

My starter does not work in the mornings, but will work later when vehicle has been run. What would cause this. I mean nothing, lock-unlock-or start.
    It works fine later on.

That’s a bit odd. Perhaps there’s a bad connection somewhere that needs to warm up first. I would definitely take it to your installer to check out, as it’s obviously not working when you need it the most! If it was already on the vehicle when you purchased it, and you don’t have a technician to look at it, let me know where you are and I’ll see if we know anyone.

With those remotes, you simply hold the * button down for 3 seconds and that should do it. If not, you may have an issue with programming or installation that needs to be addressed. Did you have it installed? Or was it on the vehicle when you purchased it?

You’d likely need to check with the technician that did the installation. If it doesn’t currently beep the horn when pressing the lock button twice, they probably didn’t hook up the horn wire. If they did, they should be able to turn that option on with a programmer.

I’m not aware of a way to program it via remote. Compustar makes a hand held programmer that any Compustar dealer should have. They should be able to walk out in the parking lot and change settings reasonably quickly. Most I’d assume would not charge for something that simple.

I just bought a 2008 vehicle with the 900r remote installed. Everything works, but I was wondering if I wanted to upgrade the remote, which remotes I could upgrade to without installing a new system.

Most likely you’d be able to add just about any of the Compustar remote kits that you’d like, they would just need to upgrade your antenna and possibly update the firmware on the brain. Let me know what area you’re in and I can try to suggest someone close to you.

Remote 900R 4B 1-Way will not work. worked for a bit, then quit.
Changed battery, entered programming mode by turning ingnition on and off 5 times.
parking lights flash once, i press the lock button, but parking lights then flash twice, not once like theyare supposed to.
does this mean remote is already programmed and there is a diffrent(wiring0 ISSUE)?
MANUELS ARE NON EXISTING, ANYWAY I CANT FIND ANYTHING.
how do i erase all remotes and start fresh?

It sounds like you either have a bad remote, or possibly a bad antenna. When you press lock during programming and nothing happens, it’s not receiving the signal. Do you have the spare remote still? Best bet would be to find a compustar dealer to troubleshoot it. If you need a owners manual, look for the manual for a Compustar CS-925s.

You either have a remote that’s not transmitting, or an system that’s not receiving. The systems hold up to 3 remotes in memory. If you program it again, it would just overwrite one of the saved ones. Lets say you hit lock three times during programming, it would put that one remote in all three slots. You’re really going to need to find a dealer near you that has a different remote to try, or a different antenna to plug in and test.

It is the receiver,i took a receiver from a diffrent vehicle and programmed the problem vehicles remote and it worked.
so when i get my new receiver,to program 2 remotes I press lock on 1st remote and then second remote, while in programming mode, and both remotes will than be programmed.
    is that correct?
it seems like i have to do both remotes in the same programming session, anywaywhen i do one in one session, and then the second in another session, the last one i programmed is the only one that works.
    am i making sense?

You should be able to program them both at the same time. Enter programming, hit lock on one, then lock on the other. Let it click two times to leave programming and you’re done.

I have a vehicle with the compustar 900R installed. I’m trying to find out location for any fuses that may be in the system.
I’m looking for an owner manual for the compustar 900r. It is not on the compustar website nor could I find the 600r.

The 900r was used in their pre-packaged systems. The owners manual found here applies to the 900r as well. https://cdn.firste.ch/compustar/man/700R-Full-Manual-EN.pdf

Thank you Mike. I bought the vehicle used and the auto start wasn’t working at the time. Do you know of any fuses for the 900r system itself aside from the vehicles regular fuse systems ?

There are definitely fuses in line with the power wires. You would have to locate the brain to the unit to find them though. VERY generally speaking they would be under the drivers side dash, but there’s no standard place for a shop to put them, so you may have to do a little digging

I bought a used car from dealership. They sold me a kill switch installed for 1500.00. Compustar 900R. Did I get ripped off? From what I read, that device is a car remote, not a kill switch.

    Thanks,

The 900R is a remote that can be used with a bunch of different systems. It could be set up with what’s called a starter kill circuit. That being said, that price is likely triple what a normal system running the 900R would be. Price varies a bit by region due to differing installation rates, but that’s quite high.
