When it comes to motorcycle amplifiers, the new ARC Audio MOTO 720 from Extreme Audio near Richmond is one of the best on the market. Building on the platform of the world-famous MOTO 600.4 , the 720 delivers more power, more features and an upgraded design that makes the unit easier for our technicians to install. The MOTO 720 delivers amazing performance in motorcycles and ATVs and is a popular solution in cars and trucks where efficiency and compact size are crucial.
ARC Audio MOTO 720 Specifications
This first of the eight upgrades increases maximum output power per channel. The MOTO 720 can produce an effortless 150 watts into four 4-ohm loads and 180 watts into 2-ohm loads. When bridged, the amp produces 360 watts per pair of channels into a 4-ohm load.
ARC Audio upgraded the Class-D circuitry to improve the efficiency of the amplifier to almost 94%. This is unheard-of performance and exceeds most amplifiers by more than 10%. Part of the efficiency upgrade came in the form of new Class-D filters that also help to reduce EMI and RFI performance.
Water-Resistant Design
While not waterproof, the MOTO 720 features a design that is optimized to prevent water intrusion. The new speaker terminal blocks are completely sealed, and any water that might enter the set screw holes on the top of the amp will drain out the front and away from the internal circuitry.
The brushed aluminum trim panel on the top of the amp that conceals the crossover and level controls has been enlarged to cover the seam between the top plate and the heatsink at the back of the amp to help keep drips and splashes out. The gaps between all the panels have been tightened to add additional water rejection.
Better Integration and Reliability
The engineers at ARC Audio have added an option for DC-Offset and Signal-Detect remote turn-on trigger to make it easier for our team to connect to a factory-installed source unit. The audio signal input connectors have been changed to the same latch-locking five-pin terminals ARC has used for decades for speaker-level inputs on their amplifiers and matches the connections on its PSM digital signal processor.
The metal chassis has been modified to increase the airflow to the fan in the amp for improved thermal performance when the weather outside is extremely hot.
