We upgrade a lot of motorcycle radios here at Extreme Audio. Last year, we sold a lot of the Aquatic AV AQ-MP-5UBT-H Harley-Davidson–specific radios. These radios fit the fairings perfectly and offer an amazing feature set. For 2017, Aquatic AV has introduced the AQ-MP-5UBT-HS, which adds some great new features that will make it even more popular with motorcycle riders.
Digital Media Solutions
The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS, just like the AQ-MP-5UBT-H, is a digital media receiver. It has no CD mechanism, but instead, provides a storage pocket for an iPod or iPhone, or a USB memory stick. The new AQ-MP-5UBT-HS also includes an AW-USB-1 USB input socket that can be mounted away from the radio to charge other devices. The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS is an upgrade, not a replacement, so both will be popular this year.
Satellite Radio-ready
The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS is SiriusXM-ready. This means, when you purchase an optional SXV300 SiriusXM tuner module and subscribe to their service, you can enjoy the same music no matter how far and how you drive – for an hour or an entire day. It’s all broadcast to your radio from satellites orbiting overhead. The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS includes the Replay feature to rewind what you just heard, so you can listen to it again.
Dummy Face Panel and More!
The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS includes a blank face panel that maintains the IP55 Water and Dust intrusion rating while helping to prevent theft. The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS also includes a built-in clock. Of course, Bluetooth audio streaming, an AM/FM tuner, an auxiliary input jack, a large color display and an easy-to-use rotary volume control are carried over from its little brother.
The AQ-MP-5UBT-HS includes a built-in high-power, four-channel amplifier. The amp is rated at 45 watts into 4 ohms and an impressive 72 watts into 2 ohms. You can wire up two 4-ohm speakers to each channel to get things rocking!
If you own a 1998 to 2013 Harley-Davidson, the AQ-MP-5UBT-HS and its little brother are perfect drop-in solutions. The radio fits perfectly and seals against the dash. The mounting brackets work with the factory radio brackets and the Harley-Davidson wire harness plugs right in.

I would like to up grade my 2008 electra glide classic. I like the radio shown above, however i really dont want to loose my cd player.
We definitely have options with CD, they just wouldn’t be the Harley specific style like the Aquatic AV radios are. Are you in the Richmond area? Thanks
yes, in richmond, and wondering about GPS
If you were using GPS from your phone, and streaming music, then you would definitely hear voice prompts. There are no aftermarket Harley specific radios that directly interface with any navigation systems though.
What are the differences between the AQ-MP-5UBT-HS and the AQ-MP-5UBT-H?
The HS adds SiriusXM compatibility, a clock, a cover that snaps on when you’ve removed the face to keep it sealed up, and a mountable usb dock/cable that comes off the rear.
The OEM radio has two plugin connections and the HS has only one plugin. What functions will you lose without the second plugin connection? Is it the handle bar controls? I’m a little confused on the plug and play?
The only thing in the second plug would be things like rear speakers (if equipped), CB radio, etc. The handlebar controls are in the main plug. If you have rear speakers, there will be 4 wires you’d have to hook up separately. I think re-engineering the entire radio chassis back end, and the cost of putting that second plug on every unit (when many harleys don’t have rear speakers) would have driven the cost higher on the unit.
can the cb be adapted to work with this unit
Regrettably no, there are no aftermarket units that are able to work with the CB.
Can you enter change a black and white with a color face plate
You can shift the color screen into a black and white mode by changing the setting in the system menu
Do you have wiring instructions for the end user to wire up the factory rear speakers on an HD Electra Glide into the AQ-MP-5UBT-HS?
I’m not sure if Aquatic AV has separate instructions for the rear speakers or not. The 4 wire colors on the rear speaker plug do match the colors of the wires in the second radio plug for the Harley though. (the unused radio plug in the Harley when the new radio is being installed)
I want to use in JM Bluetooth helmet system with my iPhone XR. And I want to use your head unit. Will the phone volume be controlled with the handlebar controls? Also will I be able take phone calls? I’m not sure how everything would interface with each other. Would the phone go through the head unit then to the helmet? And back in the reverse when making phone calls?
Good Morning. I’m not quite sure how the system would handle this scenario. The radio doesn’t handle anything phone call related, as it’s only equipped with the audio streaming protocols. I would contact Aquatic AV directly to see if they have any experience with it. Thanks
Where can I get the main plug for 2003 HD Electra glide standard?
Metra Electronics makes an OEM plug called a 71-9600 that you could use.
