All the Audio Sources
The iLX-407 includes an AM/FM receiver with the HD Radio tuner we mentioned earlier. There’s an aux input jack on the radio’s rear, and the USB port will play MP3, WMA, FLAC and WAV digital audio files. In addition, we can upgrade the radio with a Sirius XM satellite radio receiver for uninterrupted entertainment from coast to coast. There’s also an HDMI input on the rear of the radio so you can connect a digital media player. CarPlay and Android Auto include dedicated apps for Pandora, iHeartRadio, Tidal and Spotify, to name a few. Finally, of course, you can dictate text messages or get detailed turn-by-turn navigation directions to anywhere in North America using Google Maps, Waze or Apple Maps (the latter requiring an iOS smartphone).
In terms of safety options, the system is compatible with all of our rear-vision backup camera solutions. In addition, the image from the camera will display automatically as soon as you start backing up.
Shallow-Mount Digital Media Receiver
The Alpine iLX-407 is only a few inches deep. Not only does this shallow depth make it easier for us to mount in your car or truck, but it provides the option of adding one of Alpine’s Power Pack KTA-450 45-watts-per-channel, four-channel amplifiers right behind the radio. This amp is a huge step up in performance from the 18-watts-per-channel chip amp in the radio. The radio is equipped with 4-volt front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs, so we can also install full-sized amplifiers and a DSP to make this the heart of a stunning audio system.
