Prince George Client Upgrades Indian Roadmaster Stereo System

Indian Roadmaster StereoAfter successfully upgrading the sound system on his 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, this Prince George client returned to Extreme Audio in Mechanicsville for a 2016 Indian Roadmaster stereo system upgrade. This client takes great care of his bikes. In fact, we would call them immaculate. It is always an honor to have a customer come back and tell us we did a great job, and that we get to do it again.

Source Unit Amplifier Integration

Indian Roadmaster Stereo
The small Arc Audio amplifier left plenty of room in the trunk.

The fairing on this Roadmaster is not as big as on some other cruisers. The small size of the Indian fairing and the motorized windshield meant that there was no room for an amp. We decided to locate the Arc Audio Moto 600.4 amp in the trunk.

Indian integrates the factory source unit into the instrument cluster, and the controls are on the left side of the handlebars. We tested the audio signal coming from the radio to ensure that there wasn’t any significant equalization or filtering. Once we knew the signal was usable, we connected it directly to the speaker-level inputs on the Moto 600.4 amp.

System Wiring

Indian Roadmaster Stereo
The underside of the trunk was a convenient spot to terminate the plugs for the audio wiring.

Paint protection film was applied under the wiring to protect the paint.

We take pride in how we make our electrical connections and where we route the system wiring. For this Indian Roadmaster stereo system, we ran signal and speaker wiring all the way to the trunk, then back to the front speakers. We installed a piece of paint protection film on top of the rear fender to protect the finish from the new wiring. The wires are enclosed in braided nylon loom and secured in place to ensure they will not rattle or vibrate. Any exposed wiring is wrapped with cloth Tesa tape to protect it and conceal it where visible. Heat-shrink tubing secures all of the connection points to enhance reliability. Thanks to a set of quick disconnects for the speaker wires and power connections, the trunk can be removed without upsetting anything.

Arc Audio Moto Speaker Upgrade

The front speakers were upgraded with Arc Audio 5.25″ coaxials, which happened to be a perfect fit.

The front of the bike looks stock but sounds much better!

The rear speakers were upgraded with the Arc Audio coaxials.

With the rear grilles in place, the bike looks completely stock.

We replaced the front speakers with a set of Arc Audio ARC 502 coaxial speakers. These 5.25-inch speakers fit nicely into the factory locations, and the stock grille protects them without any modification. We replaced the rear speakers in the Tourpak with a second set of ARC 502 coaxials.

Indian Roadmaster Stereo System Tuning and Delivery

The client loves the way the new system sounds and is thrilled with its ability to get loud without distorting.

If your cruiser needs better sound, drop into Extreme Audio in Mechanicsville or Midlothian and talk to a member of our team. You can also reach us by e-mail using our contact FORM.

Good morning! There’s going to be a few different options when it comes to speakers, amplifiers, etc. Best bet for sure is to either give us a call when you have a chance, or swing by to go over the options. Thanks!

Dave, we don’t offer anything along the lines of do it yourself kits. We handle all installation and setup at our shops here locally. If you happen to live within a rides distance to the Richmond area, we’d be happy to take a look!

I have a 22 roadmaster, does the installation of the amp require any tuning on the bikes computer system? I know my old harley required the dealer to program the new configuration into the bike.

The Indian’s thus far have not had any sort of “flash” like the Harleys do. Depending on the overall setup you were to run, there’s always a benefit to running a DSP to help tune the bike, but it’s certainly not a requirement. There’s also a bunch of info on a 2020 model we did here https://www.extremeaudio.org/2020-indian-roadmaster-from-virginia-beach-gets-audio-and-lighting/
