Motorcycle Audio

Motorcycle Audio Richmond

Motorcycles and music go hand in hand. Who doesn’t enjoy that wind-in-your-face feeling while listening to your favorite song? Extreme Audio has been leading the pack in motorcycle audio for over a decade, and can help you outfit your bike with an audio system that will sound great and be reliable for years to come.

Let’s face it: Factory-installed motorcycle audio systems leave a lot to be desired. When your bike is sitting still with the engine off, many of these systems already sound weak and anemic. When you are driving up the road, it might as well be turned off because you surely aren’t going to hear it. When we started turning our attention to this category, we realized a few things early on.

To Sound Great, Motorcycle Audio Systems Need Power

Motorcycle AudioThese systems need lots and lots of power. Unfortunately, most of the “motorcycle audio” amplifiers” used to be low-quality, re-boxed products. The folks that were “making” this stuff were small companies with limited budgets, so there was no engineering department developing them. While they were better than the stock motorcycle audio stuff, they were still weak. The good news is that the car audio industry took notice, and some great products started being developed. What makes it even better is that the trend in car audio amplifiers for years now has been to make them smaller and more efficient. And that is great news for your bike, since you need extremely compact products that will work with your bike’s limited charging capacity. Extreme Audio has several amplifiers that will light up the sound of your motorcycle, giving you concert-level sound while you’re driving up the road.

Better Speakers For Better Sound

Motorcycle Audio MechanicsvilleYou need better-quality speakers and more of them. Many motorcycles come with only two speakers, although the “upgraded” systems come with four. If you remove the speakers and take a good look at them, they resemble something bought at a flea market. In the world of car audio, we have seen speaker designs improve dramatically over the last 15 years. Marine audio has become a big player as well. What this means to you, the motorcycle owner, is we have many different speakers that will play much louder than the stock, anemic ones you have now. The sound quality rivals what you would experience at an intimate jazz club. Your music will now have life to it, with a fullness that will have you cranking it for hours.

Digital Signal Processors Improve Realism

After we’ve upgraded your motorcycle with a high-power amplifier and great speakers, the last step is for our technicians to fine-tune the performance of the system with a digital signal processor (DSP). While many people see these devices as complicated upgrades that require spells and voodoo to make them work, the reality is that our smartphones, the Google and Alexa speakers in our homes, and even some surprisingly basic factory-installed car radios use DSP to improve the realism and accuracy of your music listening experience. We’ve installed hundreds of processors, and our team uses a reliable process to configure them, so your music will sound awesome. We can even create different calibrations for cruising around town or blasting down the Interstate.

We can incorporate a powersports-specific DSP like the ARC Audio PSM into your audio system, then use it to calibrate the system to deliver smooth and accurate frequency response that makes listening to your music feel more like you’re at a live performance.

Harley-Davidson Audio System Upgrades

We’ve installed thousands of upgrades on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. We know which combinations of speakers, amplifiers, source units and processors deliver the best value and performance. We have amplifier and speaker options from ARC Audio, Rockford Fosgate and Diamond Audio to bring the system to life. Harley-specific weather-resistant source unit upgrades for 1998 though 2013 bikes are available from Rockford or Aquatic AV to modernize the technology and connectivity options. We also have Sony weather-resistant upgrades for 2014 and newer bikes that include CarPlay and Android Auto. We can even reflash the Boom! Box radio to make it sound better with these amp and speaker upgrades.

Recently, Rockford has added Road King audio systems that focus on premium saddlebag speaker upgrades and high-power amplification, while using a Bluetooth receiver to play music or a streaming service from your smartphone. Once again, the kits are bespoke to 1998 through 2013, and 2014 and newer applications.

Professional Installation For Best Sound

Motorcycle AudioInstalling a high-quality system on a motorcycle is much harder than it seems. The highly skilled and award-winning staff at Extreme Audio will work with you to design and build the motorcycle audio system you have always wanted. We have in-house fabricators who are experts in working with metal and fiberglass, so if you want speakers in your bag lids, we can do that. Would you like speakers in your lower fairing? No problem! How about a subwoofer for bass when you are sitting in the parking lot? We can do that as well.
