A repeat client of ours from the Midlothian area came by with his 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, looking for some additional upgrades. We’d done a significant stereo system upgrade for him previously that you can see here. This time in, he was looking to gain better visibility behind the Jeep.
Between the large spare tire on the back and not having the greatest reverse lights, Jeep Wranglers can be difficult to back up. Luckily, we had just the solution for both of those problems. First up was a new Brandmotion backup camera. Brandmotion offers a Jeep Wrangler camera designed specifically for recessing in the spare tire on the back of the Jeep Wrangler. Even with an oversized tire/wheel combo, their camera mounts right to the tire mount and extends out to for a great view, while still staying relatively hidden.
Next up was a reverse lighting kit from Rigid Industries. The 980013 Reverse Light Kit is made for mounting into the rear bumper of Jeeps, trucks and more. The kit comes with a three-position switch that provides plenty of lighting flexibility. In one position, they operate in tandem with the Jeep’s OEM reverse lights. In another position, they stay on permanently, lighting up the area behind you so you can see while working. In the final position, you can turn them off completely if you’re in an area where you don’t feel you need them.
