One of our repeat clients from Midlothian recently came in to see us about his 2013 smart fortwo navigation system upgrade. We had already added an Alpine Restyle Navigation to his 2013 GMC Sierra, and he wanted to upgrade the factory radio in his smart car as well.
He is going to use the smart primarily when out of town with the family’s camper, so getting something with a built-in navigation system was an important feature. He also wanted a unit that allowed the buttons to be customized to the color of the dash lights in the smart car. He also really liked how we changed the boot screen in his Sierra on a previous installation, and really wanted the smart logo to come up with the new unit.
With Alpine not making a kit for the huge 9” navigation for the smart, the client decided he preferred the color-matching ability of the Pioneer NEX navigation units. We set him up with a Pioneer AVIC-7100NEX, a 7-inch multimedia navigation system. We also personalized the boot screen with a custom smart logo.
The 7-inch NEX units from Pioneer have built-in navigation, DVD and HD radio, and also feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. He currently uses a Windows phone, but with all the capabilities of the NEX unit, he knows he is ready no matter what device the future brings.
