A client came to us from Midlothian, VA to look into upgrading the navigation system that they had installed in their 2005 Mercedes SL500. With the vehicle being a convertible, the old unit wasn’t bright enough when the sun was reflecting off of it, and the touchscreen buttons were a bit too small and difficult to navigate.
After some discussion, we found out that one family member used an iPhone, and the other used Android. We decided to go with the Pioneer AVH-4100NEX since it offered a larger screen with easy to use buttons, and offers the new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
CarPlay is an interface designed by Apple for using your iPhone’s music, phone, and navigation apps through the radio. Android Auto is Android’s version of the same. Phone navigation is always up to date, but since it normally doesn’t display on your radio screen, it’s not always the easiest and safest to use. With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the navigation is displayed and fully controlled right on the radio! Now they are totally ready for some top down, summer time driving!

I have the same request. How much to do this job?
Craig, thanks for the comment! We’d be happy to go over some options for your Mercedes, but pricing will vary a good bit depending on exactly which OEM system you have in there currently. Stop by one of our locations when you have a chance and we’d be happy to see what we can do for you!
