Midlothian Boat Owner Upgrades Chaparral Audio System

A new client from Midlothian, Virginia, came to Extreme Audio looking to upgrade his Chaparral audio system. He had an existing system in his boat but was unhappy with the bass response. Our team of specialists went over the boat with him and took time to listen as he explained his goals for the upgrades and how he used the boat. After we had compiled all of our information, we suggested using his subwoofers and installing them in custom ported enclosures, which would give him the bass he was looking for. We also suggested some other upgrades, and he liked all of them, so we scheduled an installation appointment for him.

Chaparral Audio Upgrade Features New Enclosures Bump Up The Bass

The two enclosures tuck in the same spots that the existing enclosures were in, but offer much more bass.

The enclosures were constructed out of marine plywood for a lifetime of great sound.

Our fabrication team built new ported enclosures. This upgrade would effectively give the owner the sound of having 2 more 10″ subwoofers!

Since the primary reason the client came to us was for increased bass in his current system, we knew we had to deliver on this part. Our fabrication team made custom ported enclosures for his subwoofers, resulting in a dramatic increase in output and clarity. The subwoofers were originally installed in sealed enclosures that were not very efficient. We made our new enclosures out of marine-grade plywood so they would last for years on the water. We designed them to fit into the storage spaces under the dash where the original boxes were located, so the client kept all of the functionality of the boat.

Wetsounds Tower Speakers For Great Off-Boat Sound

Our installation team was careful to neatly and safely run all the wires, our installation looks better than factory!

The 10″ Wetsounds tower speakers offer concert level sound for everyone surrounding the boat.

As we were talking to the client, we realized that he enjoyed wakeboarding, so we suggested adding a set of wakeboard tower speakers. He liked our idea, so we chose the Wetsounds REV10B-FC 10” towers speakers for this build. To put it simply, Wetsounds makes the loudest, cleanest-sounding speakers on the water. If you want to enjoy your music 100 percent off the boat, no one can do that like Wetsounds. Skilled installation is important, too. As with all of our installations, we used grommets everywhere we needed to drill a hole, plus we soldered and heat-shrank all of our connections for maximum durability.

Wetsounds Processor Provides Full Zone Control

In addition to zone control, the Wetsounds processor gives the owner tone controls for adjusting the sound to fit different styles of music.

The Wetsounds Processor gives the owner control of the tower speakers, and the interior speakers of the boat.

When the client added the tower speakers, he effectively created a second zone for his audio system, so we suggested adding a Wetsounds WS-420SQ equalizer and zone controller. He now has independent control of volume over each zone and can have different sources of music playing in each zone.

Battery Upgrade Ensures Long Hours Of Great Sounding Music

The installers at Extreme Audio noticed that the vehicle was poorly designed when it came to battery reserve, so we suggested adding extra batteries to give him more playing time for the audio system with the engine off. We added two Interstate marine batteries to his boat to give him significantly more flexibility and to reduce the likelihood of ever having a current problem when enjoying his day on the water.
