A new client from Chesterfield recently called us about his wife’s 2006 Maserati Grand Sport Spyder audio system. It seems the factory Auditorium upgrade system was having issues, and you could just barely hear it when it was turned all the way up. Needless to say, she wasn’t happy about that!
We brought the Spyder into our shop, and had one of our expert technicians get started on figuring out the problem. After some basic troubleshooting, we determined the issue was indeed the Maserati factory amp.
The client was also interested in upgrading the existing radio to gain some of the modern-day features – Bluetooth to stream music from her phone and SiriusXM satellite radio were big features she wanted to have.
We decided on an Alpine CDE-HD149BT head unit, and a JL Audio HX280/4 amplifier to replace the factory amp. The CDE-HD149BT has a nice, bright display to help with glare issues when the top is down. It also gives you multiple lines of info on the display, making searching your music much easier. The JL Audio amplifier was the perfect match for replacing the factory amp and retaining the rest of the factory speakers.
As you can see from the pictures, the JL Audio amplifier fit perfectly in the rear side panel, mounting right where the old factory CD changer used to be. The radio fit the dash just like the factory as well.
