A client from North Chesterfield recently visited our Midlothian location, looking to upgrade the headlights in his 2013 Nissan Altima. The light output on the Altima was nowhere near as bright as he would like, so the natural upgrade was to put in the best GTR Lighting HIDs and LEDs to improve them.
As we’ve done in countless vehicles, we installed GTR Lighting HIDs in the low beam projector housing, and GTR Lighting Ultra series fog LEDs in the fog light locations. Much to our surprise, the light output was still way subpar compared to normal. After a little Googling, we found out there is a factory defect in the OEM Altima lights that causes the reflector inside of the projector housing to fail. With a bad internal reflector, even the best light bulb won’t be focused to shine forward.
A quick upgrade to a new set of TYC headlights and a set of GTR Lighting Perfect Fit bulbs for the high beams, and the difference was dramatic. Check out the pictures for the before and after.
