A client from Chester recently visited our Midlothian location, looking to upgrade the audio in his 2021 Kawasaki Teryx KRX1000. He had an existing Swamp Donkey sound bar with a Sony marine radio running four Kicker DS 6 1⁄2” co-axles. It didn’t sound bad, but he wanted more output, and some bass to back it up. After looking at the various options available, we came up with a game plan and got him on the books.
First, we added a Rockford Fosgate m5-800×4 4 Channel Element Ready Amplifier. The Rockford M5 amplifiers are IPX6-rated, meaning when the side-by-side inevitably ends up being “sunk,” the amp will stay sealed and survive to rock out another day. We fed two channels of the amplifier to a pair of Wet Sounds REV8B-SC tower speakers with stainless steel swivel clamps. We bridged the other two channels on a Kicker CompRT 10″ shallow mount subwoofer, installed in an SSV Works KX-PS10U custom subwoofer enclosure designed just for the Teryx KRX1000.
The upgrade added a ton more overall output and bass to the system that it never had before. The client was stoked about his new upgrade and excited to take it out to Busco Beach the following weekend.
