A client from North Carolina contacted Extreme Audio to ask about upgrading her new Toyota Camry with a blind spot monitoring system. She’d recently purchased the vehicle and assumed that because it had forward collision and lane departure warning, she expected monitoring what was happening in adjacent lanes would be included. Let’s take a quick look at how we executed this Camry Blind Spot Monitoring system upgrade.
The client brought her Camry to us so we could install a VOXX ADVBSD30 radar-based blind spot monitoring system. This solution includes a pair of ultrasonic transceivers that mount behind the rear bumper cover. When someone is in an adjacent lane, the orange LED indicators we installed at the base of the A-pillars illuminate to let her know not to change lanes. If she were to activate the turn signals, the system will provide an audible warning that something is in the way.
We spent most of the day installing this Toyota Camry blind spot monitoring system, but once we were done, it looked and worked as if it had been installed on the assembly line.
If you want to add blind spot monitoring to your vehicle, visit the collision avoidance experts at Extreme Audio in Mechanicsville or Midlothian. You can also reach us by phone or e-mail.
My dash shows blind spot monitor not available. How does one recalibrate sensor
Larry, our systems are aftermarket add-ons for vehicles that were not equipped with that feature. Unfortunately, if yours is factory equipped, most likely the dealership is going to be your only source for service. Sorry we couldn’t help.
