A client came to our Midlothian location recently, wanting to increase the backing-up safety in his 2015 Dodge Charger. He was interested in adding a backup camera to the Charger, but wanted to make sure it would fit the vehicle as if it came that way from the factory. We’ve become quite the experts at integrating backup cameras into Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles, so we knew right off that we had a solution that would work perfectly.
For this particular model, NavTV makes a plug-and-play interface for adding a video input to the OEM Dodge 5″ and 8.4″ uConnect screens. It doesn’t modify anything in the factory wiring, and automatically sends the reverse camera image onto the factory screen when you put the vehicle in reverse. Partner that up with a quality camera, and you have a very “OEM-like” safety solution. In this case, we partnered it with a Rydeen Mini Cam, on a license plate bracket that places the camera right in the center of the vehicle for a nice, even view behind him.
