Backup Camera for 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited from Mechanicsville

A client from Mechanicsville stopped in with his 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, looking for a backup camera. If there’s one thing that Jeep Wrangler owners know, it’s that visibility behind them when backing up is terrible. After taking a look at his Jeep, we formulated a plan.

First up was picking a camera. Generally, the best option for cameras on a Wrangler is in the spare tire on the back. It remains hidden and still gives you a good, centered image. Since his Jeep has aftermarket Fuel wheels, it would need a camera that could extend out to see through the wheel.

Second was choosing how to view the camera’s image. His particular Jeep had the OEM LCD screen in the radio, so it made perfect sense to integrate the camera image into that.

We knew just the solution for him! Brandmotion makes a Jeep Wrangler-specific camera system that integrates to the OEM screen. It comes with a programming device that plugs into the Jeep’s OBDII port and re-programs the radio to work with a camera.
