A client from Williamsburg, Virginia, contacted us here at Extreme Audio about getting some Jeep Wrangler upgrades for his 2017 model vehicle. He had done a significant amount of research regarding what he wanted and who he wanted to install the system. We were able to schedule an appointment for the client so he could make the 50-mile drive to see us.
New Style with Restyle
Alpine has put a significant amount of effort and creativity into their Restyle source unit solutions. Unlike all other manufacturers, Alpine has developed a series of large-format multimedia receivers and accompanying dash kits to fit specific vehicles from Jeep, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, Ford and Toyota. The dash kits are more than just adapters. The kits include oversized control buttons for functions like volume, tuning, source selection, navigation and Bluetooth. The kits also include interfaces to allow the new source unit to interface with the vehicle for information from the factory tire pressure sensors, parking sensors and Electronic Vehicle Information Center, if equipped.
The new source unit, like the one included in the i109-WRA system we installed in this four-door Jeep, include a 9-inch touch panel display and integrated Apple CarPlay. Of course, the i109 has built-in Bluetooth, is SiriusXM-ready and can connect to aftermarket amplifiers to create an even more-amazing sound experience.
Apple CarPlay
If you are not familiar with CarPlay, it is Apple’s mobile infotainment interface. CarPlay will let you send and receive text messages, make phone calls, and select music to enjoy by simply talking to the radio. You can even get turn-by-turn navigation prompts from Apple Maps by asking for directions.
Rear Vision Camera Integration
The client wanted a way to be able to see behind the vehicle when backing up. With the large 255/75R17 BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tire that hangs off the back door of the Jeep, seeing anything behind the vehicle is nearly impossible. We installed an Alpine HCA-TCAM1-WRA backup camera kit on the rear tire. This kit includes not only an extremely rugged IP66-rated wide-angle camera, but a new third brake light as well. The 6.25-inch wide by 2-inch tall brake light and camera bracket attaches to the spare tire, using one of the factory lug nuts. Our team of installation technicians always does a great job of concealing the wiring while running it through the vehicle.
Wrangler Upgrades Complete
The client is very happy with his new radio and backup camera. He loves how perfectly it integrates with the vehicle and how easy it is to use. If your Jeep is in need of a technology upgrade, contact us HERE.
