****** This unit has been updated and replaced by the model AQ-MP-5UBT-HS that you can find here https://www.extremeaudio.org/product-spotlight-aquatic-av-aq-mp-5ubt-hs/
Upgrading Harley-Davidson motorcycle audio systems is one of our specialties here at Extreme Audio. The radios on older Harleys don’t have many features, so we have searched high and low for a suitable Harley stereo replacement and came up with the Aquatic AV AQ-MP-5UBT-H Bluetooth, USB and MP3 media receiver.
A Perfect Fit
Aquatic AV designed the AQ-MP-5UBT-H as a direct replacement for 1998 through 2013 Harley-Davidson factory radios. This radio plugs right into the factory wiring harness and is completely compatible with all the factory radio-mounting hardware. You can even use the factory handlebar-mounted audio controls for added convenience and safety.
Ready For Anything
The AQ-MP-5UBT-H features a hideaway pocket behind the watertight fold-down front panel. You simply plug your phone into the USB port to charge it, then slide it into the radio body and close the front panel. Your phone is secure, and you can listen to your music via USB for iPod and iPhone devices or over a Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth receiver includes A2DP and the new iPod Accessory Protocol (iAP) to display album artwork on the 3” full-color LCD screen. An AM/FM tuner, support for MP3 file playback from a USB memory stick, a 1/8” stereo aux input and rear harness RCA aux input are also included.
An IP55 water and dust intrusion rating will keep your phone will dry, safe and secure. The main circuit board has a conformal coating to prevent damage from moisture and humidity. The front fascia has been tested in an environmental chamber for UV light and resistance to from salt and fog.
Power And Control
The AQ-MP-5UBT-H has 4V preamp outputs for front and rear, and for a dedicated subwoofer channel. Aquatic AV went all-out with a high-power 45 watt per channel amplifier. If you use two ohm speakers, the radio can produce up to 72 watts per channel. Your music will be louder, and much clearer as compared to a conventional aftermarket car audio source unit.

Do this unit have a CD player
on it ?
Mike Bartells says
No sir, it does have the ability to play music from a thumb drive though. So if you’re not using your phone for music, you could save your CD’s to a thumb drive and play them from there. The only versions available with CD that we are aware of, are the car stereo style that can be adapted in. Let us know if you have any more questions!
Willie says
What is the warranty on this unit
How long is it !
And how many watts is this Radio have ?
Barry M Payne says
Very nice for motorcycles with audio to begin with, it sure would be nice to have some kind of product to add quality music to a bike that has never had audio to begin with. Shark Audio sells speakers that are self-powered and systems that come with an amplifier, but I have no room for an amplifier.Rumble Road self-powered speakers are also an option, but there sure is a lot of room for additional options from other companies to help the person with no audio that wants to have a great system to put on their bike. The sound of an exhaust for more than an hour is enough to make you want to drive a car instead of ride a motorcycle.
Mike Bartells says
We agree! It would be great for one of the audio companies to put a little more effort into the self contained add on speakers.
Mike Bartells says
Barry, If you’re local to us, we’ve brought in a couple new self contained options from Kuryakin and MTX that you may want to stop by or Midlothian store and take a listen? They both use bluetooth or AUX input, and have self contained amps, so you don’t have to work about locating any amps anywhere.
Jeffrey Diehl says
Will the garmin Zumo 365LM voice commands stream through the Aquatic AV via bluetooth? If so, will it play music and allow the garmin voice commands to mute the music for commands?
Thanks in advance for your time,
Jeff
Mike Bartells says
If you were to connect the Garmin to the radio and have the radio in bluetooth mode, it would send the commands through the radio. The only way the Garmin would be able to interrupt music that is playing though, would be if the music was being played from the Garmin. Hope this makes sense?
Jeff says
Actually, that absolutely makes sense. The garmin is Bluetooth, so that should work. I hope it doesn’t effect music quality to a point were its noticeable. I appreciate your help.
David Moore says
Then silly question, can I play music with bluetooth from my phone and also have the garmen going at the same time?
Mike Bartells says
David, I’m not familiar enough with the feature set of the Garmin device. If the Garmin is able to connect to your phone via bluetooth and then send the music from the Garmin into the stereo I would assume so?
Bob says
Can I use my hand controls to toggle from song to song via Bluetooth?
Mike Bartells says
Definitely, you can advance forward or backward on the “playlist” or music app you’re using.
Tom Confer says
Will this unit work with the communication system or will I lose that feature?
Is there an external USB or aux input or are the only ones the internal ones? I have an iPhone 7 Plus and it’s not going to fit inside.
Mike Bartells says
You would lose the CB functions and rear controls if you have a tour pack. The new model that replaced this is a aq-mp-5ubt-hs, you can see that here https://www.extremeaudio.org/product-spotlight-aquatic-av-aq-mp-5ubt-hs/
The new model added a rear usb cable and mountable dock for it. The rear USB is only for charging, where the internal can communicate with things like USB thumb drives. It also added SiriusXM compatibility, a cover for when the front face is removed, and a clock. As a side note, an iPhone 7+ will fit inside the unit, but only if it’s not inside of a case. It would also need a lightning connector with a right angle on the end. Not convenient overall having to take the case off, but if you’re on a long ride with a lot of rain, there’s room to get it in there and protected from the elements. Thanks!
Vernon says
What are the best speakers to use with this unit . I have the 2ohm boom audio speaker from Harley on my Ultra but I’m told that 4ohm speakers would be better. Do you know how good the speakers from Aquatic are
Mike Bartells says
The 2ohm boom speakers would be fine, but there are definitely speakers out there that will sound better. Changing from those won’t likely make it more loud, just sound better. Personally I think it depends on your long term goals. The Aquatic speakers, Arc Audio Moto’s, etc will sound REALLY good, but really need an amplifier to stand out and be worth the investment. If your plan is to just run basic replacement speakers and never add an amp, I’d stick with more efficient speakers like the Rockford Power Series Harley speakers, or the Alpine R-series (not technically waterproof though). They could take a decent sized amp in the future as well. If big power is likely down the road like an Arc Moto600.4, then I’d go with the Aquatic or Arc Audio Moto’s.
Ethan says
While riding will I be able to listen to voice navigation? In my truck the music will get slightly lower and Siri will tell me when to turn. Secondly, will I be able to receive phone calls while cruising?
Mike Bartells says
If you were to be streaming music from your phone, then the navigation would also talk through the speakers, as the phone is in total control of what is being streamed to the unit. It will mute down when you receive phone calls, but it doesn’t have the bluetooth hands free protocol built into it. This allows you to stream music, but still use headsets you may have to handle phone calls.
Ted H says
Do you have a recommendation for replacement speakers to take advantage of this unit?

Joe Taylor says
Do you do online sales? I am interested in this unit, but don’t live anywhere near you and didn’t see any options for online ordering.
Mike Bartells says
Generally we don’t, but AquaticAV is one of the few that we do. Give us a call at 804-302-4488 or email me at mike@extremeaudio.org Thanks!
Matthew Traber says
I saw a comment about using Bluetooth controls to toggle through radio stations and play lists. Will the stock thumb controls still function as they did with the original stereo?
Mike Bartells says
They do, it’s pre-programmed to match the OEM controls
Alex says
I currently have the plastic chrome bezel around my stock radio. Will I be able to keep that with the aquatic radio?
Will I be able to remove the head unit with in on.
Mike Bartells says
You should be able to, most all of them with that trim we’ve been able to retain. If you install it from the back side, you shouldn’t have an issue.
Rudolf Thielmann says
Hi, can i change the display color into red?
Mike Bartells says
It only works in that one color.
Ben Azary says
I want to change it to red what can I do as far as what bulbs are they as to deal-soder and re-soder ?
Mike Bartells says
I doubt that would be something you could do. I don’t think it uses traditional bulbs that could just be swapped. We’ve never disassembled the face plate on one to look, since it would void the warranty on the unit. You may try contacting Aquatic AV directly if you want to inquire more.
James Pagan says
Will the headset plug on the bike still work? I know you will lose the CB, but will the sound still transmit to the helmet?
Mike Bartells says
It doesn’t retain the headset function
David says
Does this unit transmit Bluetooth as well? Just wondering if I could use a Bluetooth headset.
Mike Bartells says
Sorry, it’s just a Bluetooth receiver.
Erica Handley says
Can I use this head unit with 4om speakers and a 4om amplifier?
Mike Bartells says
Definitely! The only thing I would avoid is using an amplifier that is designed to use direct speaker level input. Something that is designed with RCA inputs is the way to go.
Dennis olsen says
I have your stereo on my Harley Ultra Ltd 2012. I upgrade my 4 speakers and added a 800 watt amp. I know I lost the function of the CB Part.
Main question I have a Garmin 560. On the Harley bike from factory I would go to auxiliary and hear turn by turn on the speakers. Loved it.
When I had your system added to my bike at the Milwaukee rally they told me I would loose that function can’t be down I was told. Is this true?
I miss that function.
Thx in advance
Mike Bartells says
Good Morning, sadly that is correct. There are no aftermarket units that can retain that function.
