This section will be an all new “News” section, where we can keep you up to date on new technology, products, and anything else we think you may find of interest! If there is a topic you’d like to see covered, don’t hesitate to send us an email to let us know. For our first news update, we’d like to simply tell you a little bit about ourselves….. Extreme Audio was founded in April of 1999 in Richmond, at our old address of 4201 W. Broad Street. Our owner, Mike Bartells, felt the need to move on from managing another local chain and strike out on his own. The times in the traditional “car stereo” world were changing, and he felt the need for a different approach. Our goal from day one was to offer a more knowledgeable approach, with far more focus on getting our customers what they needed, not just selling them the overstock of the week. We shortly became known as a go to spot, building up a long list of repeat customers. We dove into our hobby of car stereo competition and began building loud vehicles, including our notorious “green van”. More on that later… A short time after our three year anniversary, we were faced with a big decision. A local store chain abruptly closed their doors, leaving a location in Mechanicsville available. We made the tough decision to uproot a successful location, and move to a new one, 7451 Sujen Ct. in Mechanicsville, VA. We’re happy to say that it was a great move! Mechanicsville has a great home town atmosphere. Even being on the outskirts of a large city, it maintains a local mentality, with people that know each other well and like to deal locally. We’ve been here for 8 years now, and intend on being here for many, many more! Over the past 8 years our business has steadily grown. We continued with the car stereo competition, building a new van that garnered national, and worldwide attention. Over a 5 year span the van set over 12 world records in dB Drag, USACi, IDBL, and MECA. It was featured in Car Audio and Electronics magazine, Richmond Magazine, The Times Dispatch, and was featured in a segment on The Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters. We were even featured in newspapers and posters in China! Aside from our stereo competition, our local business continued to focus on the changing needs of you, the customer. We’ve shifted quite a bit into other aspects of “car stereo”, becoming the local experts for Marine audio, iPod integration, Bluetooth, Navigation, remote car starters, and backup camera’s. We’re always on the lookout for the upcoming trends like Mobile DTV, iPad integration, and anything else technology throws our way. Hopefully this section will work well to keep you all up to date! Hopefully this has given you an idea of who we are, and where we came from. Add us as a Fan on Facebook, or join our email newsletter list! We’ll keep you up to date on the latest and greatest in the automotive electronics world, show you any cool new installs we’ve done, or let you know of any smoking hot deals we come across! Talk to you soon The Crew at Extreme Audio
